During the summer of 2003, the distinct voice of God along with a clear vision for a new ministry was given to Pastor Austin. The Lord’s voice and the vision were subsequently under-girded with prayers of thanksgiving and a request for guidance. Consequently, a continued walk of faith and a new journey began. On the First Sunday in December 2003, the Lord gave birth to the Solid Rock Christian Church.
On the First Sunday of the New Year, 2004, Solid Rock established it’s Foundation Membership Roster with approximately 70 members and associate members. Since the Lord Jesus Christ declared that “upon this rock I will build my church” (that rock being the truth that the Apostle Peter declared, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” we are confident that Christ will build and add to this church as he deems appropriate.
The God-given vision for this ministry and the evidence of His awesome grace provides us continuous hope and trust in He who does all things well.
The three-fold mantra of this Christocentric (i.e., Christ-centered) ministry is Wonderful Worship, Powerful Praise, and Purposeful Preaching. The clear distinctive of this ministry is the consistently sound biblical teaching and preaching with practical applications for daily living and a lifestyle that pleases Almighty God. Our founder and Pastor is the Rev. Dr. James G. Austin, Jr.. Associate Ministers who are currently serving alongside Pastor Austin include Rev. Clarence Jones, & Rev. Lyman Wilson.
The ministries of Solid Rock include our Deacons and Deaconess Ministry. Deacon Anthony Dodson and Deaconess Mary Ann Dodson currently serve as chair persons of the Deacon and Deaconess Ministries respectively.
Our Foundation Choir and the Voices of Praise bless us with the songs of Zion. We have a wonderful Youth & Drama Ministry that blesses us on the Fifth Sunday of each quarter during the year. We also have both a Men’s and Women’s ministry, which blesses us on the Fifth Sunday of each quarter during the year. The women of Solid Rock have participated in at least two Women Conferences in Knoxville, Tennessee with the women of Valley Grove Baptist Church.
We are very actively engaged in Outreach Missions work; two specific efforts include our support of Manassas Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center in the city of Manassas though our prayers, monetary giving, and trained Resource Center Counselors. Additionally, through an unselfish act of gracious giving, a home has been built for a family in Jamaica. To God be the glory!
God has also opened the doors for Outreach Evangelism and we give him praise for the “Voice of the Rock” Radio ministry which is heard every Sunday morning on two local A.M. Radio Stations and Sunday nights on ELWA (Eternal Love Winning Africa) which is an F.M. Station in Monrovia Liberia, West Africa.
The vision for Solid Rock includes the Solid Rock Christian Campus which will be home to the Solid Rock Christian Church, and at a minimum, a “K” though 6th Grade School, a School of Theology, an Information Technology Center, and a Christian Book Store.
Because the vision is God-given, we are certain that it will come to past. Consequently, our Pastor has given us the Word of God which says, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Consequently, as we wait on the Lord to place us on the parcel of land that He already has laid out, we have embarked on a Capital Campaign in order that we might do our part on God’s program. Our theme for the campaign is “Seeing the Unseen” and we believe that with God, all things are possible.
True to His Word, God has brought to fruition a portion of the vision He gave. Specifically, during the Month of October 2007, through our out-reach ministry, God has allowed for the establishment of our Elementary School, Solid Rock Christian Academy in Zubah Town, Monrovia, Liberia. Our school currently has more than150 students enrolled and a staff of seven teachers. Student enrollment continues to grow. Our school motto is: “Striving for Excellence” and our prayerful goal is that one day, God will grow the Academy into the premier, foundational elementary education school in all of Liberia.
We are also blessed to have an extension of our church family in Zubah Town, Monoriva, Liberia West Africa, Solid Rock Christian Church International where our local pastor is Rev. Samuel Barclay. To God be the glory!
We are excited about what God is doing and we invite you to be apart of our history. We were worshipping at the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton on Van Dorn Lane in the city of Manassas, but God has blessed us with a NEW church located at 9060 Church St., Manassas, VA 20110.
Associate Pastors who are currently serving alongside Pastor Austin include Reverend Clarence Jones, and Reverend Lyman Wilson.
We recently celebrated our Eighth Anniversary and we are expecting God to do even greater things in life of this ministry, as we approach our Ninth Anniversary. We are very actively engaged in Outreach Missions work, and specific efforts include: our support of Manassas Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center in the city of Manassas through our prayers, monetary giving, and trained Resource Center Counselors. Also through an unselfish act of gracious giving, a home has been built for a family in Jamaica. Additionally, our Men and Women’s Fellowship provide prepared meals on a quarterly basis, to the SERVE Community Outreach Center for the under privileged in Manassas, VA. To God be the glory! Living clean and committed lives before the Lord, along with a caring and giving heart will allow us, as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, to reach, teach and win souls for the Christ.
