IV. The How and What of Things
A. Decision Making – We must share in our belief of the core values.
B. Problem Solving – Three steps that lead to effective problem solving: 1. Everyone directly involved in the decision should meet together and determine the exact nature of the problem. 2. Ask the question – what are the facts? Have others facing similar problems solved them? 3. Determine what the viable solutions are and then select the best solution.
*** This last step can be the hardest one. Ask these questions: · How do our core biblical values address the problem? · What solution do our primary beliefs dictate? · If we’ve already made a decision, does it complement or contradict our values?
C. Risk Taking – (Acts 15:24) Paul and Barnabas [risk taking is really an act of faith]. 1. Every ministry must take some risks if it hopes to make a difference for Christ. 2. The problem with taking risks is the fear of failure. Risk taking by its very nature makes leaders vulnerable to failure.
D. Goal Setting – Goals are accurate reflections of your values.
E. Team Building – Working together is essential.
F. Financial Spending – Our budget will reflect our values.
** Matt 6:21.
